No, it's not a sign of the Illuminati. Members of Donald Trump's inside circle have been sporting a triangular lapel pin - sending the internet in a flurry of speculation over what it means. Eagle- eyed viewers stoked rumors of secret societies, while others pointed out the pin's resemblance to the pink triangle initially used by Nazis to identify homosexuals before it was reclaimed as a symbol of gay pride. It turns out the pin was handed out by the Secret Service to identify those who are allowed to pass through the security surrounding the president- elect, the New York Post reported. People were quick to notice the pins, seen on Trump's former campaign managers Paul Manafort and Corey Lewandowski during the campaign trail. The pin, which grants Trump's inner circle the mobility to pass through security as they please, appears to be working well, since it's still being worn about a year after it first appeared. David Graham, a professor and editor of the International Society for Emblem Studies newsletter, told Vocativ in April the pin reminded him of the symbols used by Nazis. He said: 'The use of a pink triangle badge by the Nazis to identify homosexuals, as one of several differently colored badges worn by prisoners in camps, is well known, of course, but that hardly seems likely to be the source of this pin.'Even Star Trek actor and media personality George Takei weighed in (above). Even Star Trek actor and media personality George Takei weighed in, joking: 'This symbol's meaning is hard to pin down.'Theories surrounding the triangle's meaning, seen on the lapels of Trump insiders pointing downwards with a gold perimeter, also included allusions to everything from the Star Trek's Ensign badge to the Illuminati.
